First Policewomen

By John Aretos of Police Mortgage

Another first-responder fact I heard recently is that Betty Blankenship and Elizabeth Robinson of the Indianapolis Police Department were actually the first female police officers in the United States. That was back in September of 1968, not long before I was born.

That is an interesting fact since Police Mortgage is proud to offer police home loans to first responders in Indiana. I also went to college in Indiana and my wife is from Indianapolis. We have family in that state. So, I always feel that we have a strong connection there.

I also read somewhere that Carmel, IN is one of the best places to live in the country.  Since I have relatives that live there, I know it’s a beautiful place. Carmel is just north of Indianapolis right off of I-465. It's heavily wooded and it's Indiana's area of high net worth.

The Indianapolis Metro Area is interesting.  It almost feels like the whole city is a suburb compared to Chicago.

However, there's a lot of old historic homes with heavily wooded areas that are very old school. There's certainly history in Indiana and obviously from hearing about officers Blakenship and Robinson I'm learning more about it.
